RATING: The Big O
In 2017, I wrote down a list of books I planned to read in 2018.
One of the books on that list was:
The Sleeping Beauty Trilogy by Anne Rice
Today, I am reviewing book #1
The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty
In the early 1980s, Anne Rice wrote an erotica trilogy under the pseudonym -- A. N. Roquelaure.
In 2015, she released a fourth book, making it a quartet.
I admittedly had never read an Anne Rice book before and was unaware that she had released erotica under a pen name.
I actually discovered her trilogy whilst working in a sex shop in Bridge Road, Richmond back in 2014.
Whilst waiting for customers, I would read erotica from their bookshelf behind the counter.
When I opened up book #1 -- The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty...
I only read a few pages but could feel my cunt flooding immediately in response to Rice's prose.
I decided it would be best if I purchased the trilogy and read it at home where I was able to properly relieve myself. A one-handed-read as they say!!
I finished reading it last night.
Unlike the fairytale Sleeping Beauty where 15-year-old 'Beauty' is awoken with a kiss.
In the erotic version by Anne Rice, Beauty is awoken with a FUCK.
And comes to life when Prince Charming's seed is dumped inside of her.
Sounds good to me!
Beauty is stripped naked and taken to a European kingdom ruled by his mother the Queen -- to learn the art of submission and serving.
Basically princes and princesses of surrounding kingdoms are sent to the Queen as tributes.
They are put into years of degradation, punishment and torture to teach them obedience.
The slaves are walked along like dogs in the gardens and are used as human horses to pull the carriages.
They are spanked, raped, strung up on the walls with their legs behind their ears -- being sexually stimulated but WITHOUT release.
The first half of the book which is about Beauty's submission had me dripping.
It's so hot.
But the second half of the book is about Beauty's friend Prince Alexi (another slave) and what he has endured .
I personally don't get off on men having sex with each other. It does absolutely nothing for me.
But I realise that many women LOVE gay porn. Different strokes for different folks.
So, I used the second half of the book to learn about the art of writing graphic sex scenes as Rice has done.
It's pretty full on. There's a lot of rape with cocks and kitchen utensils. There's an enema that takes place in the kitchen. And Prince Alexi is given the grand duty of cleaning out all the Lord's arseholes with his tongue.
If I hadn't experienced 120 days of Sodom by Marquis de Sade or Girlvert: A Porno Memoir. I would have been shocked perhaps. But those books warmed me up.
It takes a lot to gross me out. We are animals.
Tears, sperm, saliva, cunt juice, blood, vomit and shit are part of the package. Nothing to freak out over. It's just some graphic writing.!
The better one can deal with filth at a base level, the better you'll deal with bigger issues in life. My opinion only!
I went on Goodreads to see what other readers thought and some young woman was given the book as a birthday present from her Grandma. :)
And of course the feminists think it should be banned and think Anne Rice is the anti-christ..!
If you're a prude or need consent etc in writing -- you will hate this book. It breaks all societal rules.
But if you believe that writing is our last fucking freedom to express what we wish....give it a shot.
I dare you!
My name is Vanessa de Largie. When I'm not fucking, you'll find me reading.
