I've been off social media for several days now and I'm NOT missing it.
We spend our days swiping, scrolling, liking and checking -- we wait to be validated. We wait for something to happen.
Social media is a time-suck. A complete waste of energy that could be used productively.
How the fuck can anyone create good art, when they're never truly present in their life or thoughts?
It's not until you deactivate social media -- that you begin to get back to yourself.
The first days are odd. Your brain is going at a hundred miles an hour and you feel quite agitated.
But after you ride that out -- like a true addict. The mind slows and calms.
You return to yourself.
You REFLECT -- which is why I called this post REFLECTIONS.
One doesn't have time to REFLECT when their brain is plugged into social media.
I've done meaningful stuff today.
I've read a few chapters of my book.
I've worked on my website.
I've written out my Christmas cards.
I've colored my hair.
I've masturbated in the bath.
I've cleaned my desk.
And I've nearly finished this blog post.
Life passes us all by in a flash. One day this life will be gone. My life is far too precious to spend on social media.
I'm looking forward to reading more, fucking more, socialising more and loving more.
I'm looking forward to watching dvds without pausing to check my phone.
I'm looking forward to sitting on public transport and looking out the window instead of having my head buried in my android,
I have a lot of love, soul, ideas and creativity to offer this world. I no longer require validation from others.
The action of 'doing' is enough.
The action of constantly pumping out creative work is enough.
I am a prolific creative. Noone can take that from me. I work like a motherfucker.
Here's to new beginnings and going inwards.
Here's to me.
