I started blogging for The Huffington Post on the 29th of June 2015.
Back then it was run by CEO and founder, Arianna Huffington.
In 2015, it was considered prestigious to get a gig blogging for The Huff Post.
And I dreamt about it for a good 12 months before making a move.
I tried several times to submit a column via the front of their website but was unsuccessful.
I happened to mention my dream of becoming a Huff Post Blogger to an American author I knew and bizarrely, she had Arianna Huffington's personal email.
It was like a gift from the gods!
I sent Arianna a pitch but sadly I never heard back.
Never one to give up...
I pitched another column to Arianna and when she responded -- I was over the moon.
That first piece I wrote for The Huff was titled: My Vagina Runs My Life. And it went viral.
I received over 1500 Facebook page likes due to the article.
It was syndicated for YourTango.
And the article was mocked on an American Youtube Show (the mocking of my article begins at the 4.39 mark).
It also appeared on the front page of 'Huff Post Women' -- AMAZING exposure for a writer.
The first year blogging for The Huff Post was dreamy. I found my voice with my sex blogs and garnered a following.
The editorial in 2015 at The Huff Post was superb. You would submit an article, they would edit it and within 3-5 days it would be published and promoted.
Other Huff Post articles of mine that went viral were:
When Killing An Innocent Woman Is An "Honor"
The Blowjob Artist (which stayed on the front of the US Comedy section of the Huff Post for weeks)
Last night I received an email from The Huff Post informing me they were pulling the blogging platform.
As saddened as I was to hear this. I'd organically felt for 6 months -- that it was time to pull the pin.
But I owe a lot to Arianna and The Huff Post. The gig opened up a lot of writing opportunities for me and gave me a worldwide reach.
Over 2 years and 7 months, I wrote 58 blogs for The Huff -- not a bad achievement.
All good things come to an end.
But the upside of endings is a new beginning follows!
My name is Vanessa de Largie.
