If any animal was to represent my personality -- it would be the ram.
Funnily enough, my star sign is Aries whose symbol is: The Ram.
I'm a true-blue Aries. 110%.
Everything in the Aries description -- is me down to a tee:
"Ruled by the headstrong and determined Ram, Aries energy can be stubborn and willful. Aries dig in their heels, stand their ground and refuse to be pushed around. Aries butt their metaphorical Ram’s horns against an obstacle until they break it down—often with a sheer force of will."
I ram my horns against everything.
To me, 'no' means nothing.
Except for the opportunity to turn that 'no' into a 'yes'.
I do this with everything.
Career, men, family and friends.
A lot of the time, it works.
But the rest of the time. I'm just banging my bloodied head against a metaphorical wall.
I didn't CHOOSE to be this way. I came out of the womb like this. :)
Mum reckons I was a pain in the arse from day dot. She said I would stamp my patent mary-janes into the ground when I didn't get my own way.
I found this quote by Will Smith And I think it's time I took his advice.
I have a tendency to PUSH.
To try and change people's viewpoints. To prove that I am RIGHT -- god damn it!!! :-)
I'll give you a couple of examples.
My niece is an AMAZING singer. She's also very beautiful.
And I tried so hard to steer her towards a musical path.
I got her a gig (through a mate), recording the soundtrack for a film being made in Melbourne.
When she fell pregnant and asked me what she should do. I told her to have it aborted.
She decided to have the child. (And has a few kids now).
She didn't want to be a singer.
It was ME that wanted her to be a singer.
There was a BIG lesson in that journey.
Bloggers write to me.
And I give them lists of sites they can be published on to build their portfolio BEFORE approaching magazines and newspapers.
I know this route works because it WORKED for me.
I didn't just trip over my Maxim gig.
I didn't just trip over my Huff Post gig.
I MADE THEM HAPPEN THROUGH HARD WORK...
and SHITLOADS of rejection.
YOU CAN GIVE PEOPLE LISTS, ENCOURAGEMENT AND ADVICE....
But you know what you can't give people? A fire in the belly.
People have to want it.
They have to be prepared to fight for it.
And most people just don't have that drive.
Getting back to being a ram... :-) haha
I've really got to stop PUSHING and CHASING.
ALL OF MY LIFE I've run down everything I've wanted.
from now on...
in regards to CAREER DOORS.
If I knock and noone answers...I'm not going to knock twice.
I'll just move on to the next door.
I tend to try and FORCE doors open and all I really do is end up feeling exhausted and disempowered.
I'm a worthy person.
And if there's any woman in the world I'm willing to place a bet on -- IT'S MYSELF.
My name is Vanessa de Largie.
